Polypropylene

A lightweight, chemically inert engineering plastic with excellent fatigue resistance and a near-zero moisture absorption rate. PP is widely used in industry for living hinges and chemical containers, but its extreme warping tendency and poor bed adhesion make it notoriously difficult to 3D print without specialized build surfaces.

טיפים להדפסה

  • PP only adheres to PP — use a polypropylene packing-tape surface on your build plate or a dedicated PP sheet.
  • Warp control is critical: use a fully enclosed printer with 40-50°C chamber temperature and a wide brim (15+ mm).
  • Avoid PETG or PEI build plates entirely; PP will not stick to them regardless of glue or temperature.
  • PP has significant shrinkage (~1.5-2%): scale your model up by 1.5-2% in the slicer to compensate.
  • Slow the first layer to 10 mm/s and use 200% first layer width for maximum adhesion area.
  • PP is one of the lightest printable plastics (0.9 g/cm³) — great for weight-sensitive applications.
