Matte PLA
BeginnerMatte Finish Polylactic Acid
A PLA blend formulated with mineral or polymer additives that eliminate glossy reflections and hide layer lines. Matte PLA produces prints with a soft, velvety surface that looks professional without any post-processing. It is the go-to choice when you want prints that photograph well and feel premium to the touch.

Printing Tips
- Print at 205-215°C for the flattest matte finish — overheating can reintroduce slight gloss.
- Use 100% part cooling fan to maximize the matte effect; reduced cooling makes the surface shinier.
- Matte PLA hides layer lines better at 0.16-0.2 mm layer height — finer layers offer diminishing returns.
- Avoid touching the print surface with bare hands — fingerprint oils create visible shiny spots on matte finishes.
- Some matte PLAs are slightly more brittle than standard PLA; increase wall count to 4 for functional parts.
