PA6
AdvancedPolyamide 6 (Nylon 6)
PA6 is a workhorse engineering nylon known for outstanding toughness, fatigue resistance, and abrasion resistance. It absorbs more moisture than PA12 but offers superior mechanical properties when properly dried, making it the preferred nylon for gears, bushings, and structural load-bearing parts.

Printing Tips
- Dry at 80 °C for 8-12 hours before printing — PA6 is extremely hygroscopic and wet filament produces weak, bubbly parts.
- Store in a sealed dry box with desiccant during printing; even a few hours of ambient exposure degrades results.
- Use a Garolite (G10) or PEI build plate with glue stick for the best adhesion and clean part release.
- An enclosed printer with chamber temps of 45-60 °C drastically reduces warping and layer separation.
- Print with 0% fan for the first several layers and no more than 20% fan for overhangs to maintain interlayer strength.
- Expect 1.5-2% shrinkage — scale your model accordingly for dimensionally critical parts.
