POM

Advanced

Polyoxymethylene (Acetal / Delrin)

An engineering thermoplastic prized for its exceptional stiffness, low friction coefficient, and dimensional stability. POM (also known as Acetal or Delrin) is the go-to material for gears, bearings, and sliding mechanisms, but its poor bed adhesion and tendency to warp make it one of the hardest filaments to print successfully.

טיפים להדפסה

  • Bed adhesion is the biggest challenge — use a dedicated POM adhesion sheet or Magigoo POM glue for reliable first layers.
  • Print on top of a POM or PP build surface; POM sticks best to its own material or polypropylene sheets.
  • Keep the enclosure closed and warm (40-50°C ambient) to minimize warping and layer delamination.
  • POM emits formaldehyde fumes when overheated — print in a ventilated space and never exceed 225°C.
  • Use a brim of at least 10 mm and slow the first layer to 10 mm/s to fight the severe warping tendency.
  • Avoid sharp corners in your designs — POM warps most aggressively at acute angles and thin walls.
