Marble-effect Polylactic Acid

A PLA filament blended with stone-powder additives or co-extruded with contrasting color streaks to produce a natural marble or granite appearance. Each print has a unique veining pattern because the additive distribution shifts throughout the spool. It prints as easily as standard PLA and requires no special hardware.

  • Print at 200-210°C for the best vein contrast — too hot and the colors blend into a uniform gray.
  • Use a 0.5-0.6 mm nozzle for more dramatic veining patterns; a 0.4 mm nozzle produces finer, subtler streaks.
  • Disable or minimize retractions to avoid blobs where the color-shift boundary creates visible spots.
  • Vase mode (spiralize outer contour) produces the most realistic marble effect because it eliminates seams.
  • Avoid ironing — it can smear the marble pattern and create a uniform surface that defeats the purpose.
