Glow-in-the-dark PLA
BeginnerPhosphorescent Polylactic Acid
A PLA filament infused with strontium aluminate phosphorescent pigments that absorb light and emit a green or blue glow in darkness for several hours. The glow particles are abrasive and will wear down brass nozzles over time. Despite the specialty pigment, it prints with the same ease as standard PLA.
טיפים להדפסה
- Use a hardened steel or ruby-tipped nozzle — glow particles will destroy a brass nozzle within 500g of filament.
- Print with thinner walls (1-2 mm) for brighter glow; thick walls block light absorption and reduce phosphorescence.
- Charge prints under a bright LED or UV flashlight for 2-5 minutes for maximum glow duration.
- Print at 205-215°C; higher temps can discolor the phosphorescent particles and reduce glow intensity.
- Use a larger nozzle (0.5-0.6 mm) to reduce clogging risk from the abrasive pigment particles.
- White or natural glow PLA glows brightest — colored variants glow dimmer because dye absorbs the emission.
