IntermediateAcrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate
The best filament for outdoor use. ASA has 10x better UV resistance than ABS — printed parts will not yellow, crack, or become brittle in direct sunlight. Similar mechanical properties to ABS but with dramatically superior weather resistance.

- Treat ASA exactly like ABS: enclosed printer, minimal fan, ABS slurry on the bed.
- ASA strings more than ABS — use 6-7mm retraction (Bowden) or 1.5-2mm (direct drive) at 45 mm/s.
- Print at 250°C for the best balance between layer adhesion and surface quality.
- ASA can also be acetone-smoothed, but it takes 30-50% longer than ABS to dissolve.
- For outdoor parts, use 4+ walls and 30%+ infill — UV doesn't degrade ASA but rain pooling in infill gaps can.
