Bed Adhesion

Marble PLA adheres the same as regular PLA. A clean PEI sheet works well. The mineral additives do not significantly affect bed adhesion.

Temperature Tuning Guide

Nozzle: 208°C

Range: 195-220°C. Printer max: 260°C.

  • Poor layer adhesion? Increase +5°C
  • Stringing or oozing? Decrease -5°C
  • Print a temperature tower to find your exact sweet spot

Bed: 55°C

Range: 50-60°C. Printer max: 100°C.

  • First layer lifting? Increase +5°C
  • Elephant's foot? Decrease -5°C
  • Let the bed fully preheat before starting

Troubleshooting PLA Marble on Voxelab Aquila X2

CloggingThe mineral additives can clog small nozzles; use 0.5mm or larger nozzle
StringingReduce temperature by 5°C and tune retraction; marble PLA tends to ooze slightly more
Layer lines visibleThis is less noticeable with marble PLA due to the stone-like pattern -- a feature, not a bug
Nozzle wearMineral fillers are mildly abrasive; a hardened steel nozzle is recommended for extended use

Pro Tips for PLA Marble

1

Use a 0.5mm+ nozzle to prevent clogging from the mineral additives

2

Vary temperature slightly between layers for a more natural stone appearance

3

Marble PLA looks best in vase mode or with minimal infill patterns visible through thin walls

4

Light sanding enhances the stone-like texture; no painting needed for a natural look

Support Settings

For prints requiring supports with PLA Marble, use tree supports for easier removal and less scarring. Set a 0.15-0.2mm Z-distance between support and model. If you have a dual-extruder setup, consider PVA (for PLA/PETG) or HIPS (for ABS) as dedicated water/solvent-soluble support material.
