Bed Adhesion
TPU adheres well to most surfaces including PEI sheets, blue painter's tape, and glass with glue stick. Adhesion is rarely an issue with TPU.
Temperature Tuning Guide
Nozzle: 225°C
Range: 210-240°C. Printer max: 350°C.
- Poor layer adhesion? Increase +5°C
- Stringing or oozing? Decrease -5°C
- Print a temperature tower to find your exact sweet spot
Bed: 50°C
Range: 40-60°C. Printer max: 120°C.
- First layer lifting? Increase +5°C
- Elephant's foot? Decrease -5°C
- Let the bed fully preheat before starting
Troubleshooting TPU on Bambu Lab H2D Pro
Pro Tips for TPU
Speed is the most critical setting -- printing too fast is the number one cause of TPU failures
A direct drive extruder is strongly recommended; Bowden setups struggle with flexible filaments
Minimize retraction (0.5-1mm on direct drive) -- excessive retraction causes jams
Dry your TPU before every use in humid climates; it is very hygroscopic
Consider starting with Shore 95A TPU -- it is the easiest flexible filament to print
Support Settings
For prints requiring supports with TPU, use tree supports for easier removal and less scarring. Set a 0.15-0.2mm Z-distance between support and model. If you have a dual-extruder setup, consider PVA (for PLA/PETG) or HIPS (for ABS) as dedicated water/solvent-soluble support material.
