Bed Adhesion

POM (acetal/Delrin) has extremely poor adhesion to most surfaces. Use a dedicated POM build sheet or apply a POM slurry (POM scraps dissolved in solvent). Blue painter's tape alone rarely works. A brim is essential. Some users report success with a rough PEI sheet and glue stick, but results are inconsistent.

Temperature Tuning Guide

Nozzle: 210°C

Range: 200-220°C. Printer max: 300°C.

  • Poor layer adhesion? Increase +5°C
  • Stringing or oozing? Decrease -5°C
  • Print a temperature tower to find your exact sweet spot

Bed: 110°C

Range: 100-130°C. Printer max: 110°C.

  • First layer lifting? Increase +5°C
  • Elephant's foot? Decrease -5°C
  • Let the bed fully preheat before starting

Troubleshooting POM on Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo

Extreme warpingPOM shrinks 2-3% and warps aggressively; an enclosure is essential, brim mandatory on all prints
Bed adhesion failurePOM does not stick to standard surfaces; use a POM build sheet or POM slurry
DelaminationIncrease nozzle temperature and reduce fan to 0%; POM needs high inter-layer bonding temperatures
StringingPOM oozes significantly; tune retraction carefully and consider printing one part at a time

Pro Tips for POM

1

POM (Delrin/acetal) is one of the hardest filaments to get to stick to a build surface

2

Use a POM-specific build sheet or POM slurry for bed adhesion

3

An enclosure is essential; POM shrinks 2-3% and warps aggressively

4

POM excels for gears, bearings, and parts requiring low friction and high wear resistance

Support Settings

For prints requiring supports with POM, use tree supports for easier removal and less scarring. Set a 0.15-0.2mm Z-distance between support and model. If you have a dual-extruder setup, consider PVA (for PLA/PETG) or HIPS (for ABS) as dedicated water/solvent-soluble support material.

POM at a Glance

Strengths

  • Lowest friction of any printable plastic
  • Replaces machined Delrin/Acetal parts
  • Self-lubricating — ideal for gears and bearings
  • Excellent fatigue resistance

Weaknesses

  • Extremely difficult bed adhesion
  • Requires POM-specific build surface or tape
  • Emits formaldehyde fumes — ventilation required
  • Very few printers handle it well
These settings are recommended starting points based on manufacturer specifications and community guidelines. Always do a test print and adjust as needed. Settings may vary based on your specific printer's condition, environment, and filament batch.
