TPU Dust Cap for Shimano 105 hub with Alivio Cones

I found a front wheel with a Shimano HB-1055 hub that needed new cones. I didn't want to pay $16 a cone from Wheels Manufacturing, but most online bike stores in October 2025 have Shimano Alivio cones for $4. The dust cap on the MC10 cone can be knocked off with a socket and hammer, but there is no groove on the cone to hold the 105 rubber seal. I designed a new hub dust cap with a lip seal to work with MC10 cones. update 10-30-2025: changed cone contact shape from single to double lip because new grease was weeping out.
