Description
During the Late Miocene, the Paleo-Danube formed its delta north of Vienna in the Mistelbach region. There, it shed into the huge Lake Pannon. The former course of the Paleo-Danube can be traced as W-E trending body of gravel through parts of Lower Austria. This specimen is about 11 million years old.
This rock is now on display in [Hall 6](https://www.nhm.at/en/exhibitions/permanent_exhibitions/mezzanine_level/hall_6-9_earth_history) of the NHM Vienna.
