20 3D Printed Garage Organizers and Tool Holders
If there is one place where a 3D printer truly pays for itself, it is the garage. Every tool needs a home, every wall has unused space, and off-the-shelf organizers never quite fit the tools you actually own. With a 3D printer, you can create custom holders for your exact tools, mount them exactly where you want them, and organize your garage in ways that no store-bought system can match.
I have printed dozens of organizers for my own garage over the past few years. Some replaced expensive commercial systems, and others solved problems that no commercial product even addresses. Here are the 20 best prints that have made the biggest difference.

Material and Printing Tips for Garage Prints
Garage prints face tougher conditions than indoor prints. Temperature swings, occasional impacts, and heavy loads mean you need to think about material and settings more carefully.
- Material: PLA+ or PETG is the minimum for garage use. Standard PLA becomes brittle in cold garages and can soften in hot ones. For tool holders that bear weight, PETG is the better choice. If your garage gets very hot in summer, consider Polymaker PolyMax PLA for its higher heat resistance and impact strength.
- Infill and walls: 40-60% infill with 4+ walls for anything that holds heavy tools. Screwdriver holders and light items can get away with 30% and 3 walls.
- Layer height: 0.2 mm is ideal. You do not need fine detail in a garage — you need strength and fast print times.
- Mounting: For wall mounts, use proper screws into studs or drywall anchors. Do not rely on adhesive alone for heavy tools. Design your mounts with screw holes sized for #8 or #10 wood screws.
The Functional Print subreddit is full of inspiration for garage and workshop organization. People post their setups regularly, and you can often find the STL files linked in the comments.
Recommended Filaments for Garage Prints
- eSUN PLA+ — Tough, affordable, prints easily, handles moderate garage conditions
- Overture PETG — Better heat and impact resistance for demanding applications
- Polymaker PolyMax PLA — High impact resistance, good for heavy tool holders
- Hatchbox PLA — Good for lighter-duty organizers and labels
Finding the Right Models
The key to a good garage organization system is finding models designed for your specific tools. A generic screwdriver holder is fine, but one designed for your exact set is better. Search for your tool brand and model on 3DSearch — for example, "DeWalt 20V battery holder" or "Wera screwdriver rack" — and you will often find a model made for exactly what you own.
3DSearch searches across Printables, Thingiverse, MakerWorld, and other platforms so you see every available option in one place. No more checking four different sites to find the best version.
